Welcome to the Explorers Camp 2004 page.

Many thanks to Steve and Salv for the following description of Goose!

WAK-ESU (Waky Sue)

WAK-ESU (Waky Sue).

WAK ESU where legends FULL STOP. We create the main saying in whole camp (Get Off My Lawn); everyone and every other group knew us as Waky Sue as the maddest group around, also with the craziest, most insane hair styles. We made that camp what it was, we owned it.

Saturday.

There is always one; and that one was Phil. Later, but prepared with all the food. The journey was long but enjoyable because Stephen and Salv where listening to the Cartoons ‘Ting tang walla bing bang’. Julie had to suffer the sing of Salv and Stephen (we hope your ears get better).

Once we got to the camp the cars where unloaded in a throwing fashion. After 30 second all cars where unloaded, then the challenge start, dam tents. Once the tents where up everyone relaxed in Jamie’s giant house (tent thing).

That night Stephen, Salv and Mills had the worst night of sleeping, due to the Argos tent, first the tent’s two fly net zips broke, so we had to shut the main door, it was like a steam room and we could not breath, then suddenly the fleas attack; what where not actually flea just insects. Then Mills took the bog roll and catapulted it at the insects that did not help. Then the Phillip sang ‘Please be quite’, to the tents; then the silences wait for only 30 seconds and left.

Sunday.

Waking up after sleeping in an Argos steam room breakfast was the first thing on all our minds. After breakfast Salv cleverly moved into the patrol tent because the room in the Argos steam room was ridiculous.

One this day we got given are time tables and seem bad, due to all the group being spilt up and not together for different activities; but in the end it was perfect.

Monday.

It was an early start because some activities started early. Breakfast was lovely and the day was calm. The whole group got spilt up in different activities but overall we new friends and brought a lot of new recruits to are group lawn (all girls). But Jason, Roger, George and Ross where playing tag with the trees, nice games lads.

Tuesday.

Lovely English weather it was nice and sunny for once, once the group spilt up for activities but in the night there was a Disco for scouts that we went to any way. Some of us went and made friends with another group and ‘Love was in the air’ for Mills.

Wednesday.

Woke up again, and we found out that Salv and Stephen where to fat and heavy for Micro-light. Phil was mad because the organisation was lame and did not help Salv and Stephen to lose weight, oh no I mean do another activity. Phil decided to take Salv and Stephen on an adventure to Monkey World, where Salv saw a Ring Tailed Lemur. We saw a picture of Beth at Monkey World.

Thursday.

We woke up and most of us did not have much on that day, so Anthony decided to sun bathe topless; so most of us all decided as well, what a hideous site for the rest of the camp, but now all the other groups where yelling ‘Get Off My Lawn’ because WAK ESU started the phase. Megan kicked Roger in the nuts because he was being an ass. The football tournament was class and we where through to the finals.

In the canoeing Salv and Stephen where like jelly, they could not stand up and where slow because they where like whales. Stephen did not get wet once in the whole session, but as he was getting out of the water at the end of the session and fell arse over belly into the water (Silly lemon).

That night Mills went off with Long Stratton; while Stephen was next comedian ripping it out of Mills and how he messes all things bright and beautiful up (sorry mate). All of WAK ESU where in tears and cry with laugher. I was a very nice night to remember.

Friday.

Breakfast was great but worst had to come. We went off to your Activities and by now the whole campsite knew WAK ESU (WAKE SU) due to the individual personalities and crazy hair and well know phases.

As the day past Phil was scheming, at night for dinner we had chilli, but not normal chilli; this type of chilli was killing a man. It was quite hot but the loos where blocked so badly, they had to shut them, so the Port-a-loo was the only option (Lovely).

Saturday.

Activities where as normal, but the football team of:

Anthony ‘the runner forever’.

Roger ‘The flying keeper’.

Ollie ‘The lefty’.

Rowan ‘The spoon’.

Jason ‘The great’.

Stephen ‘The nut’.

In the finals we won (I don’t believe we won some thing).  1-0 to WAK ESU, Unlucky John. We had a crowed that supported us well and everyone from the ref to the scout yelled ‘Get Off My Lawn’ and cheered on WAK ESU.

After the football, the Karaoke was on; WAK ESU killed of ‘Sweet child of mine’ and ‘Queen’, but Stephen and Jason Saved them with ‘Fat boy slim’. (Jason the slim one, Stephen the fat boy).

The final night was here, too fast. The closing ceremony was starting and looking around I knew we where known was the group of all groups. The football had a cup that the football tea collected, and as they went up; they had major support from all the other groups, everyone yelled ‘Get Off My Lawn’ and Phil did the ‘Ogy ogy’

The fire works where fantastic and some of WAK ESU stay with long Stratton to party and Anthony and Tamsin got married with cheese rings, and Salv was there vicar.

On the Saturday WAK ESU had the honour of meeting the old chief scout ‘George Purdie’. Meeting George Purdie was an honour because meeting the man who help the Scout movement so much and increase the size of it. The WAK ESU group got told by him how we had the craziest hair group he had ever seen (and we where proud).

Sunday.

We left all the good times and great memories behind and headed for home.

Overall.

I never knew that in only one week, WAK ESU could create a history of good times, crazy hair and classical phases. Together WAK ESU was the best group there and made that camp what it was. The week when to fast and the amount of new people we met and made friends with was incredible. With out WAK ESU (WAKY SU) that camp would never be that good; because we as a group were amazing. We all say together GET OFF MY LAWN and GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE.

I would like to thank so many people. Firstly I would like to thank WAK ESU for creating the camp and making the camp what it was. I would also like to thank Bob and Janet to the great help of transport and John for helping us. But most of all Phil and Julie for everything you done and the great food you cooked (Hot and cold), the organisation you get a rabble in and the best camp off all time. Well done on you first camp as main leaders and creating the best camp in our memories; and just remember to get of my lawn and George of the jungle.
