Dear Parents
Please read this letter
carefully because WE NEED YOUR HELP!
All Scout Leaders
are volunteers. We are not paid for our work and we give of our time to the
boys and girls who take part in Scouting activities. The rewards are often very
small for the effort we put in but of course sometimes the rewards are great!
The success of the boys and their growing independence and skills give us great
satisfaction and pleasure. Knowing that we have contributed in some way to
their future life is enormously rewarding.
However, and here comes the
crunch, both Barbara and Janet have full time jobs and families of their own.
Time is at a premium and we both feel that we cannot continue to run Scouts
regularly without much greater support from Parents - that means YOU!
We plan to begin a rota of parent helpers who will come and help us at
our weekly meetings. On the back of this letter is the programme for next half
term, up until Christmas. If every parent comes to help once a year we can fill
all the weeks easily. Please volunteer for one week NOW. You can choose
from the ones up to Christmas or offer a date for next term. Telephone Janet in
the first instance or speak to one of us at Scout meetings.
If you have
special skills that you can offer, such as bicycle maintenance. compass or map
work, handy craft or astronomy etc perhaps we can discuss specific programme
items, but you don't have to be especially skilled, just come and we
will guide you!
Thank you - we cannot manage without you and we really
don't want Scouts in Wheathampstead to close down.
