Welcome to the Scout Camp 2003 page.
This years camp was from July 26th to August 4th and was held at Tipton St John, in Devon. The site for the camp was very different to last year and presented some special challenges to us all. Wheathampstead Scouts were joined by some Kimpton Scouts and we also had a group of Explorers making this one of the largest groups for some time.
The site was borrowed from the local Scout Group so although we had the use of the Scout Hut access was....difficult. Some would say almost impossible in the rain. We did have excellent woodland all around and the river Otter ran right past the edge of the site.
The weather was rather unkind to us at the start of the week and there was a danger that some of the smaller scouts might sink completely into the mud. By the end of the week, however the whole character of the site changed as the sun began to shine!
Thank goodness things had dried out a bit in time to break camp more or less in the dry!
There's a full list of who was on the camp on one of the other pages, and also galleries of pictures for most of the activities we did.
If you want to submit some more 'content' to this part of the site, or any other, please get in touch with the webmaster, Graham Harper.
